This program will give students an opportunity to learn about mindfulness through yoga, directed meditation and breathing, and positive self-awareness strategies. Students will be led in exercises, games, and activities--all tailored to the young learner--to help them notice and manage external stressors that trigger internal reactions.
This program will provide tools to calm the mind, increase focus, and build resilience. It will give students an opportunity to develop a growth mindset, leading to successes in academics, extra curriculars, and personal relationships.
I am a mom of two beautiful girls, one in 7th grade and the other in 4th grade. I was born and raised in beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where I went to college and started my career working with children. I grew up in a home where meditation and mindfulness were--quite literally--household words. These concepts played a major role in my growth as a person, giving me a strong foundation for learning important tools and skills to build self-awareness.
While raising my two girls, I continued to stay involved with youth education. For the last 7 years, I have been involved with schools and organizations in various roles, from serving as PTA Treasurer for our elementary school and Head Room Parent for my daughters’ pre-school, to being a Girl Scout Troop Money Manager. A couple of years ago a friend and I started classes and a summer camp in mindfulness, yoga, and dance.
After getting married and moving to the US about 15 years ago, I continued working with children, including tutoring students as young as 5 up to 15 years of age in reading and math, first at SCORE Educational Centers by Kaplan, Inc., and later on my own as a private tutor to elementary and middle school students.
Helping younger kids focus on learning, older kids prepare for college or the working world, and seeing first-hand the challenges our kids face made me realize how different our student’s experiences are today from what it was when we were growing up.
Glittle Minds was founded after recognizing the benefit of mindfulness to young learners in this fast-paced, digital culture we live in. Through building strong, positive, and calm minds, the Glittle Minds program teaches kids to acknowledge, accept, and appreciate themselves, their relationships, and their surroundings.
I am excited to continue this journey working with young minds.

In this fast-paced, digital world, our kids are facing more sources of stimulation than ever before, and often at a younger age than previous generations. External challenges from academics, social interactions, and constant connectivity leads to internal challenges from kids’ own thoughts and feelings. As we teach our kids to navigate the glittering world around them-and in their own minds-it is important for kids to learn how to stay centered and focused so they can independently engage with these challenges in a positive way.
